How A DRUNK Gets Sober
(The Kyle Baldwin Story)
 

The LORD laid it upon my heart to write a testimony tract back in the early 90's. Since then, some 30,000 tracts have been printed and distributed. I Praise the LORD for what HE has done, and what HE continues to do in my life and the lives of others. What can I tell you in this tract that you haven't read in another tract or heard from another source?  Read on and you will see that I can tell you what happened in my life before and after November 23,1980.

Before this date, I was having what I thought was fun - a good time, so to speak. I started drinking at an early age, drinking mostly on Friday and Saturday nights in my early drinking days. I was a frequent visitor to the local bars where I had many drinking friends. There were not many weekends when I was not at a bar, and most of the time I went to many before the night was over. I wasn't much for staying home and drinking. If I wasn't at a bar, I was at a friends house drinking.

Later on in my life, the drinking got worse, and it became an everyday thing. I worked at a beer joint part-time, and was able to satisfy my habit at a minimal expense, since most or a lot of the beer I drank didn't get paid for.  Many nights when I wasn't able to drive, I would walk to the bars or a friend would pick me up. I once lost my permit for DUI and almost lost my job because of it.

I was a CHURCH MEMBER at a Baptist church and sang in the choir. Notice, I said, "Church member". WASN'T EVERYTHING OKAY WITH THE LORD AND ME? NO! I really never thought anything about my soul. I just thought that if I was a church member, and had been baptized, that everything would be all right.  MY, HOW WRONG I WAS!

If I had died before November 23, 1980, I would be in HELL today, because I WAS LOST.  Something wonderful happened in 1980. I was saved at a revival that day in November when someone showed me from GOD'S Word the verses I want to share with you today.  DON'T STOP READING THIS NOW FOR THE BEST IS YET TO COME.

You may not have a drinking problem. You may be on drugs or you may have something else in your life that has taken control of you. You may not have any abuse problem but even if you haven't, YOU'RE LOST and need to be saved.

The word of God says in Romans 3:23, that ALL have sinned. He said ALL. That means EVERYONE. YOU, ME, ALL... EVERYONE...  In Romans 5:8 Gods word says "But, God commendeth HIS LOVE toward us in that while we were yet sinners, CHRIST DIED FOR US."

He died for you and me For EVERYONE.

God's Word goes on to say in Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death."  When we work, we get money as wages, but God says, "The wages of sin, (and everyone has sinned) is DEATH" - separation from God. God's Word continues in that verse and says, "BUT THE GIFT OF GOD IS ETERNAL LIFE THROUGH JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD"  

How do you receive a Gift?  Reach out and accept it - it is that simple.  Romans 10:9 says, "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, that thou shalt be saved." It goes on to say in Romans 10:10 "For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness: and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." Romans 10:13 "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." It didn't say MAY BE OR MIGHT BE or COULD BE it says SHALL BE.

GET SAVED NOW! DON'T WAIT. THE LORD IS SPEAKING TO YOU. Don't wait another minute. If you wait, Satan will try to stop you and you'll miss the wonderful life of a child of the King.  Be sincere and pray this simple prayer:

"LORD JESUS, I'm lost and need to be saved. I want to be saved.  Please forgive me of all my sins. Come into my heart and save me. Thank you for what you've done." Amen

If you prayed this prayer and were sincere, He saved you just as he did me. II Corinthians 5:17 says, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away: behold, all things become new."  Proclaim His Promises and Stand on His Promises. They are all true.

After you are saved, there are three things to practice daily for spiritual growth:

(1) PRAY-FELLOWSHIP WITH GOD

(2) READ YOUR BIBLE

(3) WITNESS TO OTHERS

IT IS IMPORTANT TO GET IN A GOOD CHURCH - ONE THAT USES THE BIBLE AS ITS MAIN TEXT. A BIBLE BELIEVING CHURCH. GET INVOLVED WITH SPIRITUAL THINGS. LET YOUR LIFE ROTATE AROUND JESUS. YOU WILL NEED THE PRESENCE OF GOD DAILY IN YOUR LIFE. IT WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE...

I have shared with you how I was saved. JESUS took care of the rest in my life. He took away the booze and the desire for it. I no longer drink or smoke. He gave me good Christian friends and a taste for a different style of music. He even gave me a music ministry whereby I can go to revivals and can give my testimony and sing for Jesus. He's allowed me to complete two recording projects, The Lord has been good.

There are many snares out there in the world for us to fall into and Satan wants each of us to fail. By reading the Bible daily, praying and witnessing to others, by giving out tracts, going to church, serving God and letting your life revolve around spiritual things, the Lord will take us through.

ONE DAY IT WILL BE WORTH IT ALL "EYE HATH NOT SEEN, NOR EAR HEARD, NEITHER HAVE ENTERED INTO THE HEART OF MAN.) THE THINGS WHICH GOD HATH PREPARED FOR THEM THAT LOVE HIM" I COR. 2:9
