HOW IMPORTANT IS IT TO PUT ON THE ARMOR OF GOD DAILY? IT'S CRUCIAL!

Jesus Did It!

By: Norm Rasmussen

God exhorts Christians to use the spiritual ARMOR OF GOD to battle against evil demonic powers who are looking for every opportunity to influence them adversely ... as is spoken of in Ephesians 6:10-18. How often are Christians to use the armor of God? ANSWER: CONSTANTLY! IT'S NEVER TO BE TAKEN OFF, AS A MATTER OF FACT!

If Christians want to walk in increased protection from demonic attacks against them, they will never quit using the armor of God. They will make it a daily part of their lives as much as they do eating and drinking. (You can learn about the armor of God by clicking on the following link: http://www.precious-testimonies.com/exhortations/a-e/armor.htm )

God instructs us in Romans 13:14 to make no provision for the flesh: Put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts. (We put on the Lord Jesus Christ by USING - APPLYING the weapons Jesus Christ has provided - secured for us, as is recorded in Ephesians 6:10-18).  What if we don't? We give demonic spirits greater opportunity to tempt us into committing sin - disobedience to Christ's commands.

We are told to take every thought captive in 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 to the obedience of Christ. What if we don't? We are more vulnerable to demons adversely affecting our thoughts, which invariably leads to negative thoughts such as anger (often at God, which increases our chances of growing distant and cold with God), doubt, confusion, fear, hopelessness, faithlessness, lack of joy, lack of peace, depression and ultimately suicidal thoughts if allowed to go unchecked:

The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish (demonic) strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. (2 Corinthians 10:4-5)

When our thoughts run contrary to our Position In Christ -- Who We Are In Christ in other words -- we are making ourselves more vulnerable to Satan's influence than what we may realize. That's serious stuff, dear reader. God wants you as free from the enemy's influence as possible, and you have a HUGE part to play in working with God to make and keep that happening! You NEED to remind yourself constantly of WHO you ARE in Christ as God the Father decrees you ARE. Of all the spiritual weapons God has given Christians, it is the belief of many including myself that you can do more from keeping Satan at bay by knowing WHO YOU ARE IN CHRIST than any other weapon God has given believers.

Here is another writing that dovetails with the "Who We Are In Christ" writing:  http://www.precious-testimonies.com/Exhortations/u-z/WordsOfOurTestimony.htm

James 4:7 admonishes us to "resist the devil and he will flee from you." What if we don't resist him? Is he required to flee from us if we don't take our stand against him? No, if we don't resist him, he doesn't have to go. We have the assurance of God's protection, but we must assume our responsibility to personally resist Satan.

Again - Ephesians 6:10-18 outlines the armor of God which believers are instructed to put on in order to "stand firm against the schemes of the devil". But if we go into battle without some of our armor, are we impervious to getting wounded? No, if we fail to cover ourselves with the armor God has provided, we are vulnerable.

God tells us: "Do not let sin reign in your mortal body that you should obey its lusts." (Romans 6:12). The world (the fallen world's way of doing things), the flesh (our sinful carnal nature) and the devil (Satan and the demons who serve him) are continually at war against the life of the Spirit within us. But what if we don't fight back? Will we still be victorious over the pleasures and lusts which strive to reign over us? No, they will control us if we remain passive.

Choosing truth, living a righteous life, and applying the armor of God is each believer's individual responsibility. I cannot be responsible for you, and you cannot be responsible for me. I can pray for you, encourage you in the faith, and support you, but if you go into the battle without your armor on, you may get hurt. As much as that may be a matter of concern for me, I still cannot make those decisions of responsibility for you. Those choices are yours alone.

Satan loves to try to convince Christians that "the battle is the Lord's" ... "so therefore don't concern yourself with the devil."  Absolutely - God dispatches angels to fight on our behalf ... but we need to do our part in fighting the battle as well. Think about it: If God doesn't want Christians "to be concerned" about personal attacks from the devil against them ... WHY did God give spiritual weapons to Christians? To sit in a remote closet collecting dust?

God gave Christians spiritual weapons to USE for their OWN GOOD - not to be IGNORED.

Yes - it is all GOD, and God's angels, who ultimately makes and keeps us victorious over the devil's attacks against us, but if God gives us weapons to use, which He HAS, we can't be expecting HIM or his angels to use them when He's expecting US to use them. Make sense?

For you saints who already know what has been addressed here in this writing, the Lord has provided a timely reminder for you as well:  "Keep your armor well oiled" ... and don't let the enemy wear you down though the attacks are increasing on so many.

Additionally - one of the wisest things you can do is ask and patiently trust the Lord to provide you with at least ONE covenant prayer partner you can share ANYTHING with, and that person can share ANYTHING with you, and both of you can keep it to yourselves and not offer advice to the other unless asked for. (Offering "well meaning advice" though it isn't even asked for can make a potential covenant prayer partner shut down like nothing else CAN -- don't forget that. Of course, sharing your private conversation with even a spouse can also shut it down. Private means PRIVATE!). Committing to try to pray together at least once a week as the Holy Spirit enables and leads is so VITAL in keeping the enemy subdued and often away from you and your loved ones.
