GIVE GOD YOUR HEART AT CHRISTMAS ' HE GAVE YOU
Jesus Did It!

YOU are the most important person to God at Christmas time -- actually -- ALL THE TIME! Why so, you might ask?
Because God gave the world the most costly - the most PRICELESS - gift to humanity He could possibly give: His life for YOUR life.
Most people have heard the Christmas story, though many show little interest in what it cost God to give us Christmas. Here's what Christmas means to GOD: JESUS DID IT!
God gave Himself to humanity to redeem lost souls back to Himself. He did that by taking the punishment on the cross for each of our sins, so we could be forgiven of them and secure right-standing with Him. Christmas is the celebration of God coming to earth. He came to give ' to GET.
Get WHAT? Get your heart. Get your love ' your affection - your priceless devotion.
Yet you must give it to Him willingly ' otherwise it is no precious gift given back to Him.
Jesus spoke in the Bible, saying, 'Do not lay up for yourself treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.' (Matthew 6:19-21)
What does that mean: 'Where your heart is, there your treasure will be also'?
Your spiritual heart is what Jesus is speaking of. It is what you love, what you value, and what you care about the MOST. It is what occupies your thoughts and time the MOST.
'treasures' Jesus is talking about are lost souls redeemed back to God the
People. People are the only 'treasures' God is interested in. People who Jesus
Christ died for to be right with our heavenly Father, so that they might show their WILLING appreciation for Him
doing that by showering Him with their devotion. SINCERE, LOYAL devotion.
God's potential treasure (Potential in that if you haven't
yet given Him yourself). Each of us is God's potential treasure. There is
nothing else on this planet more priceless to God than people ' truly: YOU!
And so how do you present the gift of yourself to Him? You ask Him to be your Savior, and you grant Him the right to be the Lord of your life. Anything less reveals that your love - your loyalty - is divided.
I don't know about you, but I don't want my spouse to love me partially. I want 100% of her love - devotion - loyalty. I'm giving her 100% of my devotion - love - loyalty, so I have every right to expect the same from her. At least that is what I always truly desire ... (And she has given that to me from day one of our marriage, thank You Lord and Kathleen!)
Jesus is no different. He wants ALL of our love and devotion and loyality. Anything less demonstrates to Him a selfish (sinful) character flaw in us that isn't really all that attractive to Him. He gave HIS best to us. Why shouldn't He demand back from His lovers (you and I) the same?
Once we have chosen to give ourselves to Jesus ' with all the character flaws that each of us have (I have TONS of them yet, by the way, and He keeps chipping away at them!) ' now we can assist Him by helping lay up OTHER treasures to Him in heaven: Lost souls.
God is going to reward those who willingly give of their time, energy and resources to help others come to Salvation through Jesus Christ. That is primarily what Jesus is getting at in Matthew 6:19-21.
In allowing the Holy Spirit to use us to help win lost souls to God The Father through our loyal personal relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ, we are going to be rewarded for it beyond our wildest comprehension.
Here's a writing that hopefully will expand your understanding of this very, very important matter: http://www.precious-testimonies.com/Exhortations/p-t/SpecialRewardsForSoulWinners.htm
Truly ' Christmas is about both giving and OPENING. A gift given to us by God is essentially of no value to us until we open it, is it? A costly gift you give to someone you love who doesn't care to open it is a HUGE insult to you, isn't it?
Can you imagine what it must feel like to Jesus Christ when people could care less about what He accomplished for them by taking the punishment for all their sins by dying that cruel death on the cross?
Our job, dear ones, is to help other people CARE MORE about His priceless sacrificial gift to them by His dying on the cross for them. It's a big responsibility that God allows each of us to help share in if we care (and are wise). We'll be rewarded for it. Our time, energy and resources given for this cause will NOT be in vain, He promises.
Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. (1 Corinthians 15:58)
Our efforts to plant and water seeds of the Gospel Message Of The Cross in the lives of the unsaved will NOT be in vain. Our efforts (Labor of love for our Savior) WILL be rewarded. As we go about doing so, let us just make sure we are doing so by unction of the Holy Spirit. Without His endorsement of our "doing", the Holy Spirit is not obligated to honor our soul winning efforts.
