If you are spiritually born again...in love with Jesus Christ...value the Word of God as the valuable treasure that it is… you truly are the most priceless miracle to God that He could possibly have executed. Why is THAT? Because you are ETERNALLY glory bound! You are on this planet for a very short while when measured by the eternity measuring rule. Like maybe one hour; one mere day. You’re here in the morning. You’re gone by sundown. That’s how short of time span it will seem once you pass over into eternity where time as we know it ceases.
As we live our lives…being deluged with problems, stress, and everchanging pressures we have to deal with during this “earth day”…it is easy to become sort of trapped into a mindset that seems to try to convince us that being on the treadmill of life is the most important thing we need to consume our thoughts with.
Let us not do this to ourselves! Let us practice REALITY for a few brief moments in our hectic day, which is maybe smothered with depression icing, and remind ourselves what The Word of God clearly tells us as is recorded in 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 (NKJV):
"Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal."
The things we can’t see are the things that truly matter, the Spirit of God assures us. Things in the spirit realm. Things in heaven. Things once a new heaven and a new earth will be created.
If you are in certain circles, no doubt you hear Christians asking why doesn’t God do miracles today like He did in Jesus’ time? In all truthfulness, God IS doing miracles like he did during the Bible times. He is saving lost sinners! Saving a lost sinner is no easy matter to God when you really think about it. Jesus can walk on water very easily because it doesn’t involve any will of the water. Jesus can stop a storm because a storm doesn’t have a will of its own. Jesus can raise a person from the dead much easier than once that person is raised from the dead to make a decision to be a true follower of Jesus Christ. Truly following Jesus Christ requires the will of the person, and the Bible assures us that out of humanity, most will reject giving their allegiance to Jesus Christ.
Jesus tells us in His word in Luke 15:10:
I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over
one sinner that repents. "
Nowhere else in the Bible do we have such a clear reference telling us WHY angels receive great joy, like when a sinner on earth repents for their sins by asking Jesus Christ to cleanse them because of their sins, and then ask His help to stop committing them in the future. That scripture passage is a clear reference of a lost sinner making a decision to become a true disciple of Jesus Christ and let Him help that person turn away from their sin. To bring that about is the greatest victory - the greatest miracle heaven can realize.
Conversely, nowhere in the Bible is it recorded that God nor angels have joy when a sinner passes over to hell. Once a person is assigned to hell, the potential of that soul and spirit becomes snuffed out FOREVER. How sad that must make God and the angels, where repentance for our sin is no longer an option.
I personally don’t believe God created one angel or one human being with the intent of its eternal potential to be snuffed out. God had eternal good in mind when that creation came forth. Yet because that creation is given free will, it will be up to that creation to decide whether they want to submit to the Lordship of their Creator or not. For us humans, the Bible clearly states that most DON’T want to submit to the Lordship of their Creator. How painful that must make God.
Ponder what happens as this miracle of spiritual regeneration gets executed. A sinner who surely is bound for hell because God has decreed that they must suffer eternal death for their sins suddenly has changed his/her course of eternity. Suddenly he or she will become heaven bound upon dying or the return of Christ by a choice they make to admit they are sinners against God because they repented of their sins instead of having to go to hell for eternity, and have snuffed out all the potential that resided within them in and through Christ while alive on earth.
Keep pondering... What potential does a sinner have in hell sent there for eternity that God would want to harness? None. Roll back that person’s life. While that person was alive on earth, what potential does that sinner have in eternity if they will repent to Jesus Christ for their sins so He can blot them out? The potential is measureless. Once Jesus Christ is asked to come and take up residence in the heart of a sinner…you have God who can do the “impossible” residing there; limitless possibility living right inside that person because of WHO is residing there.
My wife and I are blessed to be used of God in prison ministry. From time to time people ask us if we really believe we are making any difference with those prisoners, or will they still become repeat offenders once they come out of prison? WRONG QUESTION! The CORRECT question people should be asking about prisoners are: “What is the eternal value of their soul and spirit to God through ETERNITY?” Afterall…none of us can answer that question, other than to say, “It truly can’t be measured!”
Hypothetically - So what if a Christian prisoner gets released from prison and commits another crime and ends back up in prison. As long as he/she repents of their wrong doing to God, He forgives them, and they have every bit as much potential in God to accomplish inexpressible things on God’s behalf once they die like any other Christian. What a prisoner does or doesn’t do who is in Christ has little if any bearing on the worth of the soul and spirit of that person in the hands of God.
The same is true for you, my friend. You may be physically and even mentally handicapped, poor and unable to be much good to anyone, you believe. Yet what is your worth to God when you pass over into eternity? It can’t be humanly measured!
In our sometimes hectic - frustrated lives, we will do well to remind ourselves that we are PRICELESS to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. No matter how much pain, frustration and hardship we may be facing, we need to take a quick look into the mirror and say: “Self...you may not be of much value to anyone in this life right now...but just WAIT until God gives me my glorified body, because I’m the MOST COSTLY...THE MOST PRICELESS miracle God has ever executed since He decided to create human beings! Eternity is going to bear that out!”
Honestly – no one can prove you differently, because your eternal value is to be measured solely by your Creator, and it was He who stated:"With God, (with God’s limitless power) all things are possible." (Matthew 19:26).
When you turned your life over to Jesus Christ, my friend, you made the wisest decision you could ever make. One of the greatest reasons for your joy through eternity will be KNOWING that there are NO LIMITATIONS in what God can do in you...for you...by you...and through you. Let a little of the reality of that joy slip through each day when life seems such a struggle down here. It’s the greatest equalizer, attitude adjuster, and joy jump-starter I can think of.
Your worth to God is not measured by college degrees hanging on your wall.
Your worth to God is not measured by how many financial assets you may possess.
Your worth to God is not measured by whatever position you may hold in the work place or your rank in the military.
Your worth to God is not measured by how high you score on an IQ test.
Your worth to God is not how often you attend a local church
fellowship, nor which ONE you attend.
Your worth to God is not how often you attend a local church fellowship, nor which ONE you attend.
Conversely, your worth to God is not measured by how handicapped, crippled or diseased you are, nor how impoverished or financially poor you may be.
The truth of the matter is…in one sobering sense...we are completely and totally worthless to God whatever our status in life is...until we have Him residing peacefully in our heart. Once He is allowed to take up residence in a person (and He eagerly desires to do so with each of us)…when we confess to Him we are really self-centered sinners at heart, and we tell Him we are sorry for it, and we want self-centered sin to stop in our life, and we want our heart to be the most special place where He would want to reside...for those who do that, the angels in heaven have one hallelujah joy fest party!! And God is well pleased that He created you.
